[I] Planning a game [message #280093] Di, 06 Juni 2006 12:39

I'm planning (as in, had the idea two days ago) an airsoft game / LARP
here in Sweden, and I need ideas.

The plan is to give the players little to no information before the
game, just a rough idea of where it's going to be, and which weekend to
keep open. In the weeks leading up to the game they'll get snippets of
information through various interesting methods - SMS, email, phone
calls in the middle of the night - giving them clues to the plot.
Eventually they'll get something telling them where to go when and how
to recognise their contact there. Eventually they'll have to toddle all
around Stockholm, cue random thriller-type stuff.

Obviously they'll be told in advance that they may get calls and things,
and obviously they'll have to have something to show family members and
things that it's fictional. We'll also need to make sure that the
general public doesn't get dragged in or worried, so anything with more
noticable LARPing will have to be in specifically denoted places. Even
more careful logistics will be needed for areas where airsoft elements
feature. Can't have people wandering about with guns in the street,
after all.

So, to the point. I need ideas for the plot. Needs to be a thriller,
maybe a bit of conspiracy, anything that'll make the players paranoid.

Any ideas?

Off the cuff(1):

1) Former USSR officers smuggling *whaterver* through Sweden.
Allied with someone in the Swedish Police (for money). This rules
out some easy ways to solve this. Also they have to be vary of the
police etc.

2) A conspiracy against the King family. It's unknown how widespread it is.

3) Terrorists trying to nuke/gas/poison etc. the inhabitants of
Stockholm. To make this a conspiracy, you could twist the plot to make
it a *fake* attack, plotted by some law enforcers wanting more funding
for their branch. The "messenger" could have tried to contact them,
before realizing something is wrong, and calling in outsiders to help.

I don't know Stockholm well enough to suggest places where you could
stage fights, but try to find empty houses, warehouses etc. If possible,
notify the police that something is going to happen at those locations.
If they're cooperating, they may consider borrowing you a couple to have
an unplanned exercise misson...

Pudde.

(1) Ideas borrowed from books and TV shows I've seen.

Absolutely. And make sure they know it's a *game*. Whilst being arrested and
put on trial for terrorism or smuggling or whatever might make an exciting
end to the game, it is - how can I put this? - well, let's say it's
probably not in anyone's long term interests. :-)

Yeah, involving the police is standard procedure.
